In addition to our Sunday morning Sunday School classes, we offer five different Bible Studies during the week. And
starting the first week in October we will offer DISCIPLE BIBLE STUDY I. DISCIPLE is "Bible Study Aimed At Transformation
- Not Just Information." A Disciple Study Group is composed of up to twelve students and one leader/learner. This fall,
that leader will be Dr. Erickson. There are actually four separate Disciple Bible Studies, including one for the
youth. Each is a structured, intensive 32 to 34 week study. Daily bible reading and journaling are an important part of the
study. At the weekly meetings questions are explored that are designed to stimulate group discussion. "Disciple Bible
Study I - Becoming Disciples Through Bible Study" - This is a general survey of the entire bible and is the prerequisite
to the other studies. The student will read approximately 70% of the bible during the 34 weeks. It is a 34-week study that
moves through the biblical story from Creation to the New Jerusalem. Through DISCIPLE, persons will be strengthened in their
faith and guided into service and ministry. Our goal is to build strong, biblically nourished leadership to help our churches
grow in vitality and Christian discipleship. Those who are invovled in this study commit themselves to 2-3 hours of independent
study plus 2 hours each week for 34 weeks in the weekly group meeting. A copy of the New Revised Standard Version or the
New Oxford Annotated Bible with Apocrypha is recommended for class and study use. An exciting opportunity for every church.
"If you make my word your home you will indeed be my disciples." --John 8:31 The Jerusalem Bible

"Sycamore Kids" and More! Our youth are always busy with something. We've got active youth groups at all three churches:
Sycamore, Newville and Salem. In addition, we have "Sycamore Kids" for community elementary and Middle School Youth,
which meet twice a month at Sycamore Church. Here we are ready to load a chartered bus to go see the "Noah" production
in Pennsylvania.
